Pet Passports

Prepare your pet for travel with the exact vaccinations and documents needed for your trip together.

Foreign travel with your pet can be a wonderful experience. With some advance planning you can travel to and from Ireland without fear of having your pet detained in quarantine, along with avoiding the associated costs.

All animals require travel documents to certify that they're healthy and meet specific requirements to bring them into a foreign country.

With plenty of notice, our veterinary team can prepare your pet by providing the exact treatments and documents they'll need for travel worldwide.

Travel Within the EU

With a few exceptions, EU travel requirements for cats and dogs are the same; EU pet passport, rabies vaccination, microchip and a waiting period.

The passport is usually valid for life, as long as your pet’s rabies vaccination is in date. However, guidelines change from time to time, so it’s essential to check the Department of Agriculture’s Pet Travel Guidelines for the latest requirements.

EU pet passports contain the following information:

  • a description and details of your pet
  • a record of their microchip number and rabies vaccination
  • details of their owner and the vet who issued the passport

Travel Outside the EU

Our veterinary team can advise you on the exact treatments and health certificates your pet needs for travel worldwide to and from Ireland. The requirements can vary from country to country and in addition, they are subject to change. Our team can provide you with the most up to date information.
